Kashmir is known for its beauty. The green pastures in the summer and the snow clad mountains in the winter make it one of the top tourist places in the entire world. No doubt the place is mesmerising, but it is also known for its harsh and chilling winter. The winter in Kashmir is challenging as the entire valley gets covered with snow bringing cold along with it. Life comes to a halt as the roads gets blocked affecting the lives of people especially the people belonging to the downtrodden sections of the society. People belonging to the lower class, who manage their day to day expenses by working as labours can’t afford to make their basic ends meet as the season affects all the work in Kashmir and this situation leaves a great impact on their lives and they had to struggle and face a lot of difficulties. Mother Helpage as a humanitarian organisation providing services to the people from past many decades has always shown commitment to the people belonging to the poor sections. The organisation carried out the winter relief programmes at different location in South Kashmir, for the downtrodden sections of the society who don’t have enough resources to buy the essential commodities. The program aims to provide the services to the people in winter by sharing the gift of warmth and eventually saving lives by providing winter packages to those in desperate need. In year 2018, Mother Helpage distributed Winter Relief Packages comprising of basic essential commodities; Rice, Spices, Edible Oil etc to the thousands of families. The majority of the beneficiaries were widows, who are in desperate need. Moreover, Mother Helpage distributed Blankets, Clothes and Socks to the beneficiaries, so that they don’t have to suffer in this chilling winter. The beneficiaries were very much thankful to the team for providing them with the basic commodities and other basic needs and expected for more help in future.
